The way we are producing and eating food today is making people and the planet sick. We are eating too much food of the wrong food, eating too little food, wasting food and using up as much of the planet’s resources as much as possible to feed growing populations. It seems that things can only get worse.

Food Legacy however, likes to see the bowl half full. We know that as much as there are an infinite number of problems out there, there are also an infinite number of solutions. Food Legacy is a storytelling platform that documents solutions to today’s food system challenges. Through photography, memory, and the lived experience, it honours the people, their resilience, cultures and practices that are nourishing a more sustainable future. This is their Food Legacy.

Dr Sinead Boylan has a degree and PhD in nutrition and currently works as a researcher in food systems - connecting paddock to plate. She have spent the last couple of decades researching tens of thousands of diets across the globe, from Siberia to Brunei. What have she found? The food that most of us eat is damaging not only our own health, but the health of the planet. While this has seemed overwhelming at times, what continues to inspire her is resilience - the farmers, fishers, communities and cultures quietly cultivating solutions.
